Bringing high-welfare, regeneratively farmed beef to My Little Farm has been years in the making. Unlike other farming enterprises, beef requires patience—it’s a slow, careful process. From birth to butcher, it takes years of grazing, stewardship, and investment before the first harvest. This is why regenerative beef is one of the most expensive enterprises to establish—land, time, and care all come before any return.
To build ours properly, we’ve been forming partnerships with experienced farmers who have spent generations raising cattle the right way—on pasture, without shortcuts, and always in alignment with nature. These partnerships have allowed us to source both breeding stock and mature animals that have already been raised to the highest standards.
Our Riggit Galloway cattle are a perfect example. This rare, ancient strain of Galloway cattle is known for its distinctive white stripe (or 'riggit') running down its back. These animals have been shaped by centuries of living in some of the harshest landscapes in the UK, making them one of the hardiest, most self-sufficient breeds in existence.
Before arriving at My Little Farm, our Riggit Galloways lived semi-wild on the Yorkshire Moors, thriving on rough moorland grasses in the Yorkshire fog. Unlike conventional breeds that require grain, housing, and intensive management, these cattle live as they were meant to—slowly, naturally, with minimal human interference.
Working with primitive breeds has become a core foundation of our farming principles at My Little Farm. We don't just raise heritage breeds—we raise primitive breeds. These are animals that thrive on what nature provides, not what humans impose. We are their shepherds, not their farmers.
This approach results in something truly special: beef with depth, character, and flavour you won’t find in a supermarket. Slow-grown, nutrient-dense, raised the way nature intended.
Now, for the first time, we’re offering a Galloway Beef Herd Share—a way to secure your own supply of regeneratively farmed beef.
Raising cattle the right way takes years, and this model ensures that members who value high-welfare, pasture-raised beef have reliable access to it, while also helping us build a resilient, sustainable food system.
