The Hearth — Our Members’ Cabin is Taking Shape

As the frost settles on our fields and the days draw in, our instincts draw us indoors, toward light, warmth and community connection. It is in this spirit of gathering that we are happy to share an exciting project that's taking shape - The Hearth, a simple members’ cabin on the farm.

It’s more than a barn. It’s a place to gather, cook, learn, and rest. The word "hearth" comes from the Old English heorth, meaning "floor of a fireplace."

This idea travels back even further. To the Ancient Greeks, the goddess Hestia guarded the hearth, the sacred centre of the home, family, and community. This mirrors our own understanding of the heart as the vital core of life itself.

So, while the words "hearth" and "heart" are kin in spirit, this ancient connection says it all: The hearth is the heart of the home. And we hope with all our hearts that this cabin will become exactly that for our members.

The Hearth is a rustic and welcoming wooden structure taking shape here on the farm, designed as a warm retreat for us all. Once complete, you'll find, a warm room with a wood burner. A long table for shared meals and workshops. A small kitchen where the kettle is always on. A quiet corner with books and farm journals. Made for members, built with care.

Community Call-Out

To help make The Hearth truly feel like home, we are looking to furnish it with characterful and comfortable pieces. If you have any furniture or homeware you feel would suit the space, such as a small sofa or arm chairs, blakets, rugs, lighting, books or kitchen items - and would be willing to donate, please contact us at hello@mylittlefarm.co.uk. We'd be so grateful for your help.
